Purpose and transparency
About Free Finance Checkup
A practical starting point for reviewing household finances.
What this site provides
Free Finance Checkup offers an educational questionnaire, printable workbook, and guides for cash flow, emergency savings, debt, protection, and future planning. The goal is to help you identify questions to investigate and choose a manageable next step.
What the score means
The questionnaire uses a site-specific point system. Its category maximums are 25 for cash flow, 20 for emergency savings, 25 for debt, 15 for protection, and 15 for future planning. It is not a validated assessment, a credit score, or a prediction of investment outcomes. Read the detailed scoring explanation and limitations before interpreting your result.
How educational content is prepared
Guides published under the Free Finance Checkup name explain general concepts, cite sources for further reading, and use labeled illustrative examples. We do not claim that these pages have been reviewed by a licensed financial professional. Descriptions of books are based on their subject matter and publisher information, rather than claims of personal testing.
Privacy and independence
Questionnaire answers and scores are calculated in your browser. They are not sent to resource providers or used to personalize offers. Basic usage events may record that a checkup was started or completed without including answers or scores. See the privacy policy for details.
How this site may earn money
Some provider links may earn a commission when clearly identified as paid links. We also include unpaid and free resources. Compensation does not make a product suitable for everyone. Read our affiliate disclosure and editorial policy.
